Prescription Model
What are the changes of the adoption of the "prescription model"?
According to the Federal Council decision of March 19, 2021, psychological psychotherapy will be paid for by basic insurance from July 1, 2022, provided that it has been prescribed by a doctor.
Further requirements are a cantonal license to practice, at least 3 years of experience in clinical psychotherapy, as well as self-employment with own billing.
According to the current regulation, psychological psychotherapy is only covered by basic insurance if the therapist is employed by a doctor and the therapy is provided under his or her supervision.
